Why does Wi-Fi keep disconnecting on my PC?
Repeated Wi-Fi drops are often caused by the local wireless link rather than the broadband speed itself.
Stabilise the wireless link before chasing raw Mbps.
Compare the problem near the router, on another device and over Ethernet. Those three checks quickly reveal whether the PC adapter, Wi-Fi environment or broadband line deserves attention.
Test beside the router
If disconnects disappear at close range, weak signal or interference is more likely than a Windows internet setting.
Compare 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz
5 GHz usually offers more capacity but shorter range. 2.4 GHz can reach farther but is often busier.
Check adapter power saving
Windows may allow the Wi-Fi adapter to power down. In Device Manager, review the adapter Power Management options if drops happen after idle periods.
Install the correct driver
Prefer the laptop, motherboard or Wi-Fi adapter manufacturer's current driver when disconnects started after an update.
Forget and reconnect
Removing the saved Wi-Fi profile and reconnecting can clear damaged profile settings without resetting the whole network stack.
Use Ethernet as proof
If Ethernet stays solid while Wi-Fi drops, the broadband connection is probably not the main problem.
